The 33rd Annual Kentucky National Show and Sale, cosponsored by the Kentucky Santa Gertrudis Association and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, was held July 15-16, 2011 at the Western Kentucky University Agriculture Exposition Center in Bowling Green, KY. 42 head of purebred and Star Five cattle, vying for $8,000 in prize money, were exhibited on Friday, July 15, by 22 different consignors from eight states.
In the purebred division, the Grand Champion Female was Easy 789 and her heifer calf exhibited by Heath Farms of Hodgenville, KY. The Reserve Champion Female was Queen Jen 310/6 and bull calf exhibited by Lovett Farms, Hillsboro, OH. Grand Champion Bull was exhibited by Smith Farms of Elkmont, AL.
In the Star Five division, the Grand Champion Female was LO 121-9 and her heifer calf exhibited by Ryan Colley, KC Farms, Metter, GA. The Reserve Champion Female was MCC’s Jazzy 32, exhibited by Ryan Colley, KC Farms, Metter, GA. The Grand Champion Star Five bull was Mr. Thunder 415, exhibited by Erin Colley, KC Farms, Metter, GA.
Greg Reynolds, Auctioneer, struck the gavel at precisely 11 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2011, to begin the sale. Thirty-one head of purebred cattle grossed $45,750 for an overall average of $1,475.81. The total sale grossed $60,150 for a sale average per head of $1,432.15. The sale averages were as follows:

The volume buyer of the sale was Missouri Meadows, Hughesville, MO. The highest selling pair was a cow w/heifer calf purchased by Hampton Hills, California, MO, for $4,100 consigned by Heath Farms, Hodgenville, KY. The highest selling bull purchased by Rusty Williams of Pembroke, GA for $3,100 was consigned by Lester Smith, Elkmont, AL. The highest selling bred female consigned by David Alderson, Williamsport, TN and was purchased for $3,000 by Cody Mattingly, Brandenburg, KY. The highest selling open female consigned by Hampton Hills, California, MO for $1,700 was purchased by Chip Parker, Parker Farms, Cave City, KY.
