Approximately 12 years ago the Santa Gertrudis Breeders International approved the creation of a special industry service award in order to honor individuals whose long-term contributions to the beef industry were deserving of recognition.
Following Board approval of this special award it became obvious that this honor and the recognition that accompanies it would not be given on an annual basis. The Service Industry award would be presented to only a few select individuals whose commitment and leadership to the beef industry deserved recognition and thanks from the entire membership of Santa Gertrudis Breeders International.
Last April during the annual SGBI Membership Meeting the Board of Directors voted unanimously to present Dr. Charles W. Graham, DVM of Elgin, Texas with a the Santa Gertrudis Service Industry award for his many contributions and long-term leadership to the beef industry. Noted by the SGBI Board of Directors was the tireless effort and leadership that Dr. Graham has put into developing marketing opportunities and outlets for American Breeds cattle and the support given in various forums to Bos indicus influenced animals over the years.
Dr. Graham’s has selflessly served animal agriculture and is equaled by few in the beef industry. On behalf of the membership of Santa Gertrudis Breeders International it is was our pleasure and honor to present Dr. Charles Graham with the SGBI Industry Service Award during the Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course, and also say thank you for his many contributions and leadership to our industry.
